Architectural and interior designer reviewing materials and layouts for a residential project

On-Call Design Support

I collaborate with builders and contractors as on-call design support, providing clear, structured design input at key stages of a project.

Rather than a fixed-scope engagement, this service is designed to integrate flexibly — offering design direction, spatial clarity, and decision support whenever it’s needed throughout the project lifecycle.

How I Support Builder & Contractor Teams

Design support can be activated at different stages of a project, depending on scope and needs.

This work may support:

- new residential developments and custom homes

- residential renovations and additions

- small to mid-scale commercial projects

Services may include:

- concept development and early design thinking

- layout refinement and spatial problem-solving

- design clarification to support coordination across trades

- review of drawings, layouts, or design intent at key decision points

- material and finish selection, including colour direction

- product specification support (fixtures, lighting, hardware, millwork details, etc.)

- styling support and staging direction (for presentations, listings, or final handover)

- participation in meetings or discussions where design decisions need alignment

Scope and level of involvement are tailored to each project, so teams can access experienced design input without adding complexity or overlapping roles.

Ways to Work Together

Builder and contractor teams can engage design support in different formats, depending on how focused or flexible the need is.

Design Direction Session

A Design Direction Session is a focused working session designed to bring clarity at key moments in a project.

It supports a structured review of the space, existing ideas, and priorities before moving forward.

Sessions may involve:
- reviewing layouts or plans

- discussing spatial logic

- identifying challenges

- aligning on next steps.

The goal is to establish a clear, grounded foundation that supports confident decisions moving forward.

This is where most collaborations begin.

Design Package

A Design Direction Package provides structured design support across multiple stages of a project.

Packages are suited for projects that benefit from ongoing design involvement ,beyond a single session.

Packages may include:

- layout development /layout refinement

- material and finish specification

- coordination drawings

- design coordination support

The scope of each package is defined upfront and tailored to the needs of the project, allowing for meaningful design continuity without overlapping roles or open-ended commitments.

Design Direction Packages are typically defined following an initial Design Direction Session and are available for residential and select small-scale commercial projects.

Design Advisory & Meeting Support

For projects that require design input alongside active project discussions, Design Advisory & Meeting Support is available on an hourly basis.

This may include participation in:

- plumbing, tile, or material showroom visits

- coordination meetings with trades or consultants

- design-focused discussions where options need to be evaluated in real time

This service provides an experienced design presence to help evaluate options, clarify intent, and support confident decision-making during active project phases.
